Andrew Abbott Celebrates Engagement Amid Season Highlights

Cincinnati Reds All-Star pitcher Andrew Abbott has celebrated a personal milestone. He announced his engagement to girlfriend Lindsay Stone through social media. The post, simply captioned “Forever,” showed the couple against the backdrop of the Cincinnati skyline on a rooftop. Stone is known to many Cincinnati fans for her role as a TV anchor at WLWT, where she has worked for three years.

In the images shared, the Great American Ball Park, home of the Reds, is visible. Stone, originally from 30 miles north of Cincinnati, started her career in sports journalism. She covered Notre Dame football as a sports reporter and anchor at WDNU in South Bend, Indiana, before moving to WTTV in Indianapolis, and eventually joining WLWT. Recently, she announced via social media her decision to leave WLWT after her contract ends, though her future plans remain undisclosed.

Abbott, aged 26, has devoted his entire four-year career to the Reds. Notably, he made his first All-Star team in the previous season, achieving a 10-7 record and a 2.87 ERA over 166 1/3 innings. Recognizing his success, the Reds appointed him as their Opening Day starter for the current season.

This season, Abbott’s performance has been mixed. In 11 starts, he holds a 4-2 record with a 3.97 ERA. Control has been an issue, as he walked 26 batters while striking out 38. Recently, though, Abbott has shown improvement, posting a 4-0 record and a 1.29 ERA with 19 strikeouts in his last five starts.
