Mark Cuban Reflects on His WWE Experiences

Mark Cuban, a billionaire and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, entered the WWE ring in the early 2000s with courage. However, he left with a sore back and a newfound respect for professional wrestlers. On the show “Build or Break,” Cuban discussed his memorable moments in professional wrestling.

During his appearance on “Build or Break,” Cuban participated in a segment called “build or break,” where he evaluated various subjects. Host Daniel Lubetzky asked him about WWE, prompting Cuban to recount his cameo appearances with the organization.

I did it twice. I loved it, he said.

Back in 2003, shortly after purchasing the Mavericks, WWE reached out to him. They asked if he would like to engage with their event in Dallas. Cuban agreed under two conditions: he wanted to get hit, and he wanted to hit someone. His first experience included receiving an RKO from Randy Orton, a painful endeavor despite practice.

Cuban’s second stint in 2009 involved a live WWE event where he interacted with John Cena. This time, he faced Sheamus, a wrestler who had never hit the canvas before. Cuban was allowed to topple Sheamus, but in return, Sheamus would put Cuban through a table.

It was a real table, a regular table. They told me to keep my head down to avoid injury, Cuban explained.

He admitted he was sore for weeks after being slammed onto the table. Cuban expressed newfound admiration for professional wrestlers, emphasizing the physical demands they endure despite the sport being orchestrated.

Despite not appearing on WWE programming in recent years, Cuban’s involvement left a lasting impression. It’s uncommon for sports team owners to step into the ring, with figures like Jerry Jones or George Steinbrenner unlikely to take on such challenges.

Mark Cuban’s experiences highlight the unique and entertaining nature of professional wrestling and the respect he garnered for its athletes.
