Federal Investigation Involving Rep. Ilhan Omar and Immigration Fraud

Federal investigators questioned Rep. Ilhan Omar’s older sister, Sahra Noor, last week in an immigration fraud probe concerning the congresswoman. Sources revealed that Noor spoke voluntarily with authorities following a highly publicized raid on Omar’s Washington, D.C. residence, which she shares with her husband.

Noor, like her sister, came to the United States as a child fleeing Somalia’s civil war. Currently residing in Kenya, Noor has been in the U.S. promoting her book, “Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story.” However, she canceled a book tour stop in Minnesota amid the investigation’s developments.

The raid on Omar’s home was carried out by Homeland Security Investigations, part of the Department of Homeland Security. This action forms part of a probe into possible falsification of citizenship paperwork by either Omar or her father. Following the raid, authorities confiscated Omar’s phone, passport, and computer. Her attorneys have since called for the return of some items seized.

About a dozen individuals connected to Omar, including relatives, have reportedly been subpoenaed. Although Omar has avoided public appearances post-raid, she made statements on social media. She criticized the actions as an abuse of power by Trump’s administration, terming the raid a targeted move against political adversaries.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Vice President JD Vance denied any political motives behind the investigation. He emphasized the importance of allowing the law and facts to drive the process. Omar’s legal team and Noor did not provide immediate comments to media inquiries.
