The Cleveland Guardians fans faced inconvenience due to adverse weather affecting the game schedule on Friday night. Initially, Game 4 of the American League Division Series was delayed due to rain, frustrating those who arrived on time, paid for parking, food, or merchandise. The announcement of the postponement came about an hour after the scheduled start, which added to the inconvenience.
Amidst the confusion, the Guardians’ X account added irony by posting “Rain or shine” an hour before the scheduled first pitch. Compounding matters, the team announced changes to ticket arrangements, affecting fans who purchased tickets in hopes of witnessing a significant game.
The Guardians communicated that tickets for Game 4 could now be utilized for Game 5, rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday. Fans with Game 5 tickets were told they didn’t need to take any action and could attend the Saturday night game instead. This alteration raised concerns since fans expecting to see a potential pennant victory game would instead attend Game 4, given Cleveland’s lead of 2-1 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
A fan expressed frustration, stating, “This is an insane way to handle tickets. Tomorrow should be Game 4 and Sunday should be Game 5. Tickets should be used in that order.”
Another fan shared similar sentiments, disappointed at missing a potential pennant-clinching Game 5. They argued that tickets should remain attached to their original game number as initially purchased.
On the contrary, there was a slight chance of luck for ticket holders of Friday’s game, if the Guardians won on Saturday. This could afford them the opportunity to witness an essential victory.
Weather permitting, the first pitch was set for 8:00 p.m. ET on the rescheduled game day.
