Nationwide ‘No Kings’ Protests Encourage Early Voting

Thousands of ‘No Kings’ protests took place across the nation on Saturday. These protests coincide with the start of early voting in many states. Past events organized by the No Kings Coalition have criticized President Trump’s policies. The coalition announced the October 17 event last month to encourage voter mobilization.

In Washington, D.C., protesters marched from the White House to the U.S. Capitol. They carried banners reading ‘Your vote is your voice’. Some held signs with messages like ‘Pro-American, anti-Trump’ and ‘Hands off my vote’.

Voting is one of the most important ways we participate in our democracy, so learn about the issues, research the candidates and make your own informed decisions because your vote belongs to you.

Teresa Cox of the Texas Organizing Project addressed a crowd in Dallas. She urged voters to utilize the early voting period starting Monday in Texas.

Atlanta also hosted a rally where council member Michael Julian Bond spoke. He emphasized the importance of early voting, noting that every day of early voting is an opportunity to make voices heard.

Earlier in the year, over 3,000 ‘No Kings’ protests responded to military actions against Iran. Previous protest days saw massive turnouts. In June, around five million participated, and in October, seven million protested against the Trump administration.
