Oklahoma Copper Theft Suspect’s Dramatic Escape and Arrest

An unusual incident in Oklahoma involved a copper theft suspect making a bold escape attempt, inadvertently leaving a crucial clue behind. The event took place on October 1, when deputies from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary in progress at an empty house on Sunset Lane. Bodycam footage from law enforcement provides details of this unusual scene.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Rayven Lee Wooten from Nicoma Park, was allegedly in the act of stealing copper wire from a dishwasher inside the vacant property. A deputy confronted Wooten and demanded several times that he remove his hands from his pockets, turn around, and kneel.

“You’re not listening. Turn around and get on your knees. You will get shot,” the deputy stated.

However, instead of complying, Wooten ran around the kitchen and made a headfirst dive through a closed window in the living room. This sudden move surprised the deputy, who then reported the suspect’s escape by radio.

Although Wooten managed to flee on foot, he left his backpack behind, complete with his driver’s license. This evidence helped authorities track him down quickly. The sheriff’s office commented on the dramatic escape, humorously suggesting that Wooten might have a future as a Hollywood stuntman.

The law enforcement video, shared with the public, quickly drew numerous reactions. People remarked on the irony of Wooten’s escape and the amusing side of the deputy’s shocked response.

“So he did all that, then left his identification behind lol,” a commenter noted.

In addition to burglary charges, Wooten faces charges of resisting arrest and obstructing an officer. The incident highlights a moment of chaos, quickly resolved thanks to the suspect’s oversight.
