Eric Trump Supports FCC Inquiry into ABC News Over Report

Eric Trump has backed calls for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate ABC News. The network recently published, then corrected, a flawed report about the Trump family’s business connections.

The original ABC News story claimed that Trump’s investments secured billions in Pentagon contracts. After deletion and correction, it sparked demands for a probe.

Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno urged the FCC to scrutinize ABC News. Moreno questioned whether the network violated broadcasting obligations.

Eric Trump shared his excitement on social media to participate in the probe. ABC News’ article originally suggested a connection between the Trump family and defense contracts through Anduril Industries. The network retracted this after correcting major errors.

ABC News faced criticism for falsely linking Trump Jr. and Eric Trump to military agreements. Moreno’s letter to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr emphasized the need for broadcaster accountability.

Moreno challenged the report’s portrayal of Anduril’s financing, insisting on more accurate disclosure. ABC’s report mistakenly equated 1789 Capital’s investment with Anduril’s broader funding round.

An updated ABC News article clarified past inaccuracies, highlighting changes in the headline and byline. However, a journalist involved defended the original story before its removal.

ABC News has not responded to any requests for comments regarding this situation.
