Dallas Cowboys Secure Win Over Houston Texans

The Dallas Cowboys secured a 34-30 victory against the Houston Texans, rebounding from their last-second loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The performance of quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was crucial in this win. Lamb recorded 189 receiving yards with a touchdown, while Prescott completed 32 of 45 passes for 335 yards and a touchdown.

With this triumph, Prescott has equaled Roger Staubach’s record for the second-most wins in Cowboys’ history. Both have 85 victories. Staubach, a two-time Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Famer reached this milestone several years prior. Prescott aims to emulate Staubach’s achievements during his NFL career.

Prescott is now chasing the franchise’s all-time wins leader, Troy Aikman, who has 94 wins. Aikman, also a three-time Super Bowl winner and Hall of Famer, holds the top spot. Prescott requires nine more wins to tie Aikman’s record and needs ten to surpass it. This goal could be within reach this season, depending on team performance.

Following this win, the Cowboys have a record of 2-2. The team hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, Oct. 8. Tampa Bay will play with rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels as Baker Mayfield recovers from a thumb injury. Prescott highlighted the need to maintain momentum during a post-game interview with CBS’s Pam Oliver, focusing on the short turnaround and upcoming challenges.

The upcoming schedule presents tests with away games against the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys will then host the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 1. The Packers and Eagles currently both hold a 2-2 record, while the Cardinals are at 1-3.

The Cowboys need 11 wins this season for Prescott to tie Aikman’s record and 12 to surpass it. Should Prescott remain healthy, he may achieve the record in the 2027 season if not this year.
