Lafourche Parish Tragedy
On Thursday, deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered Kenan “Ken” Urker dead in his home in Louisiana. The discovery followed a welfare check requested by loved ones. Anita Blanchard informed authorities that she and her husband, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s half-brother, visited the 34-year-old Urker’s residence. From outside, they saw Urker lying unconscious.
A man accompanied Anita and her husband and entered the house through a window. He found Urker unresponsive and cold to the touch. Investigators later discovered items such as syringes, a spoon with a brown powdery substance, a handgun, shot glasses, and another syringe on the nightstand.
Events Leading Up to the Discovery
Anita Blanchard revealed that Urker had been with them at church the previous evening. At around 8:45 p.m., he expressed feelings of depression. Deputies noted that he made a TikTok live video around 11 p.m. during his drive without speaking. Urker had accumulated over 36,000 followers on the platform.
Urker missed work the next day, prompting Anita and his employer to check on him and eventually contact law enforcement. The sheriff’s office stated that the case remains under investigation, though “no signs of foul play” have been found. The day of his passing was Urker’s 34th birthday.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Involvement and Reaction
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, known for her role in the tragic stabbing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, expressed her thoughts through a statement to PEOPLE. She suggested that Urker may have died from a drug overdose, yet she remained uncertain of whether the act was intentional.
He was not in a good state of mind recently, she said. Blanchard shared a tribute on Instagram, stating, “You will always be my greatest love story.” She highlighted Urker’s struggle with cyberbullying, emphasizing the impact of public scrutiny on his mental health.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard concluded by affirming her commitment to ensuring their daughter, Aurora, remembers her father beyond internet perceptions. Within hours, her touching Instagram post received nearly 100,000 likes from her one million followers.
