The Dallas Cowboys faced a crushing defeat against the Baltimore Ravens in Rio de Janeiro, as a last-second field goal sealed their fate.
In the final moments of the fourth quarter, the Cowboys, led by quarterback Dak Prescott, advanced to the five-yard line with a chance to clinch the win. However, after failing to score a touchdown, they opted for a tying field goal by Brandon Aubrey.
“I’m way more disappointed in the offense,” said Michael Irvin on ESPN’s “First Take.”
With only seven seconds left, Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson executed a crucial 27-yard pass to Zay Flowers, promptly calling a timeout with one second remaining. Kicker Tyler Loop then connected a 56-yard field goal, securing Baltimore’s 34-31 triumph.
The Cowboys’ defense faced criticism from fans and analysts for allowing the late-game turnaround. Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin pointed the finger at the Dallas offense instead, expressing his dissatisfaction.
Dak Prescott echoed Irvin’s sentiments, attributing the loss primarily to the offense.
“Frustrated,” Prescott commented. “Frustrated as hell. Excuse me. Embarrassed. We don’t call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don’t put it in… Defense shouldn’t even have been in that position. We’ve got to put the game away, period.”
