Georgia Senate Race: Jon Ossoff Holds Lead in Latest Polls

Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff is leading Republican Representative Mike Collins by more than six points in a recent survey conducted by the Trafalgar Group. This poll, published just before the 50-day mark ahead of the November 3 midterms, continues to highlight the Georgia Senate race as one of the most closely watched contests. Georgia is a battleground state and Senator Ossoff is already facing millions of dollars of Republican spending against him. The Ossoff campaign will continue to build unstoppable momentum and work to earn every vote across the state of Georgia.

Survey Details

According to the poll, Ossoff received support from 49.4 percent of respondents compared to Collins’ 42.8 percent. Libertarian candidate Allen Buckley garnered 1.3 percent, while 6.5 percent remained undecided. The survey included 1,091 respondents from September 10-12 and carries a margin of error of ±2.9 percentage points.

Polling Tendencies

Trafalgar Group, founded by Robert Cahaly, typically has a Republican lean and has overestimated Republican chances in past races, despite correctly predicting Trump’s victory in 2016.

Comparative Polling Data

Other polls echo similar trends. The latest InsiderAdvantage poll shows Ossoff leading Collins by 7 points. The AARP poll indicates a 9-point lead for Ossoff, and the Wick survey gives Ossoff a 4-point edge. An earlier Fox News poll showed a more significant lead of 13 points for Ossoff.

Prediction Markets

Prediction markets favor Ossoff, giving him a 94 percent chance of victory. His chances have steadily increased throughout the election cycle as traders react to polling and political trends.

Georgia’s Shifting Political Landscape

Once a Republican stronghold, Georgia now appears more competitive due to demographic changes in the Atlanta area. Democrats aim to capitalize on these changes and continue this trend into 2026.

AI Concerns and Political Action

Ossoff commented on AI, stating, “Tech titans dig bunkers while warning us the new intelligence they’re creating risks human extinction. Congress debates youth sports, and the president builds a ballroom. An ancient establishment, barely capable of email, sleepwalks into a technological revolution while the president dismantles precautions and calls us fools for worrying.”

His call for swift legislative action on AI follows warnings from AI researcher Jacob Coxon about potential risks.

Importance of Georgia in Senate Control

Georgia is crucial for Democrats in their bid to gain control of the Senate. The state is one of two Democratic-held seats in Trump-won states during the 2024 election, alongside Michigan. Democrats see North Carolina and Maine as top targets, with additional focus on more conservative states like Alaska, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas.
