Investigation Underway in the Death of 1-Year-Old in Chicago

Chicago police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old girl in the West Ridge neighborhood. The child was discovered unresponsive with visible injuries to her lower body at a home on 2600 West Rosemont Avenue around 11:40 a.m., according to local authorities.

The girl, identified as Maombi Joyeuse by the Cook County medical examiner’s office, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. She was pronounced dead upon arrival.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday to determine the exact cause of death. While the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has not disclosed information, they confirm their collaboration with the police will continue following the autopsy.

Community members are urged to assist if they have any information related to the case.
