In March, the Sierra del Carmen mountains provided a striking backdrop to the landscapes of Big Bend National Park in Texas. This area, known for its pristine natural beauty, is now caught in the midst of changes.
Last month, I visited Big Bend National Park to closely observe the developments occurring along the US-Mexico border. The visit revealed unsettling changes. The once largely undisturbed land is now facing significant alterations due to ongoing construction efforts.
The park, which stretches along 118 miles of the Mexican border, challenges the typical image of a border area. It lacks the conventional signs often associated with international boundaries, blending seamlessly into the surrounding environment. However, the recent construction activities have disrupted this natural harmony, raising concerns about the future of this unique area.
