White House Historical Association’s Stance on Changes

White House Historical Association’s Stance on Changes

The White House Historical Association, established by Jacqueline Kennedy to maintain the building’s historical integrity, has chosen not to criticize the changes implemented by President Trump. Stewart McLaurin, the head of the association, was seen in 2024 at ‘The People’s House’ exhibit, showcasing a replica of the Oval Office.

Last October, President Trump caused widespread surprise by demolishing the East Wing of the White House. This move shocked the public, Congress, and some administration members. However, the leaders of the White House Historical Association were not taken aback. A spokesperson shared that they were aware by the end of July of Trump’s intention to demolish the East Wing in order to construct his ballroom. The public only discovered the demolition plans when the wrecking equipment began its work nearly three months later.
