Indiana Farm Faces Backlash Over Corn Maze Tribute to Charlie Kirk

An Indiana family farm is facing criticism for its corn maze design honoring Charlie Kirk. Despite backlash, the farm stands by its decision.

Jeremy Goebel, a manager at Global Farms, expressed confidence in their choice, emphasizing Kirk’s commitment to open debate and free speech. “We would absolutely do it again,” he stated, noting that criticism primarily targets Kirk’s views, not the farm itself.

The controversy arose after Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot on September 10, 2025, during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. Following the maze announcement, the farm received negative reviews online, some from previous customers, opposing the tribute. Google temporarily suspended the farm’s profile amid claims of deceptive practices.

Goebel found the hostility difficult to understand. “We aimed to honor a man who advocated for free speech,” he said, acknowledging that while opinions on Kirk vary, their intent was to memorialize his message.

Many responses have been positive, with supporters from places like Cape Town and Australia expressing approval. Recognizing the divisive nature of the tribute, Goebel emphasized the importance of dialogue in America. “Our progress comes from diverse ideas,” he remarked, advocating for open conversation as a societal strength.
