The Arizona Cardinals have finalized a deal to retain starting offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt for an extended period. Froholdt, primarily recognized for his transition from a college guard to an NFL center, was initially drafted in the fourth round in 2019. After signing with the Cardinals in March 2023, he now receives a two-year, $20 million contract extension to remain with the team through the 2028 season.

Rapoport highlighted Froholdt’s consistency and importance to the Cardinals’ lineup over recent seasons. Despite ongoing challenges in the performance of Arizona’s offensive line, including conceding the fifth most sacks last season, Froholdt has been a reliable presence and a critical component in mitigating these issues.
Froholdt’s durability is notable, as he has started every regular season game since September 2023. His stability comes amid struggles to find proficient talent elsewhere on the offensive line. Right tackle Elijah Wilkinson, aged 31, and guard Isaiah Adams still need to prove their long-term value to the team as standout starters.
Securing Froholdt for the next three seasons alleviates one major concern for the Cardinals, allowing the franchise to focus on strengthening other areas of its offensive line.
