A suspect linked to two fatal shootings in New York City is currently being sought by police. The New York Police Department (NYPD) identified the suspect as 31-year-old Jesus Acosta.
Details of the Bronx Shooting
The most recent incident occurred at 12:16 a.m. on Tuesday at 149 Grill & Deli, located at 143 East 149th Street in the Bronx. A man, aged 33, was shot multiple times in the chest. Following the shooting, the suspect removed an undisclosed sum of money from the register and escaped.
The victim was transported to Lincoln Hospital, where he initially received treatment in stable condition but succumbed to his injuries later that day. Police have now classified this as a homicide.
Brooklyn Shooting Connection
Acosta is also suspected in another shooting on Sunday that took place at 842 Rockaway Ave in Brooklyn. This attack resulted in the death of a 44-year-old man and injury to another man, aged 39.
The NYPD detailed that both men were taken to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where the 44-year-old was pronounced dead, and the other victim was stabilized.
Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Acosta’s whereabouts to come forward. NYPD released surveillance images for assistance in locating him. Acosta is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. Notably, he has the word ‘Bronx’ tattooed on his hand and ‘Bobby’ on his left forearm.
