Fever Extends Winning Streak with Victory Over Toronto

Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever delivered a strong performance on Tuesday night. She scored 16 points in the first quarter and concluded with 29 as the Fever edged out the Toronto Tempo 101-95. This victory marked their fifth consecutive win.

Caitlin Clark contributed 24 points, maintaining the team’s momentum, even when Mitchell sat out the fourth quarter. The dynamic duo achieved a WNBA record by scoring at least 20 points each in 16 games this season. This surpassed the previous record of 15 games set by Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter with the Phoenix Mercury in 2008.

In the game at Toronto on August 18, 2026, Caitlin Clark drove past defender Ornella Bankole. Mitchell achieved another feat that night; her 20th straight game with at least 20 points matched the WNBA record set by A’ja Wilson, a four-time MVP.

Despite scoring eight points in less than a minute in the third quarter, Mitchell exited the game early. Coach Stephanie White explained the reason was due to Mitchell feeling “overheated.”

Aliyah Boston contributed 16 points, and Sophie Cunningham successfully hit all three of her 3-point shots, ending with 13 points for the Fever. Indiana never trailed during the game. They have now won 10 out of their last 12 games, while the Tempo have suffered 11 consecutive losses.

Toronto’s Marina Mabrey narrowed the score late in the fourth quarter with consecutive 3-pointers, bringing the score to 97-93. However, the Tempo could not close the gap.

During Indiana’s visit to Toronto, reactions were mixed when Cunningham appeared. The crowd cheered when she missed her first free throw due to her stance against transgender individuals participating in women’s sports, stated in an ESPN profile.

Late in the game, support for transgender rights emerged when a fan’s banner appeared on the screen during a timeout.
