Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the topic of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in a recent interview, stating that President Donald Trump would prioritize public disclosure if the administration had concrete information. Appearing on “The Katie Miller Podcast,” Rubio responded to questions about conspiracy theories and clarified that his interest in UAPs does not fall into that category.
Rubio emphasized his longstanding interest in UAPs since his Senate days, expressing concerns about unidentified entities flying over military bases. He underscored the need for serious investigation: I don’t know who it is. I don’t know what it is, but there are things flying over our military installations, and they’re not ours, and we should look into this, be serious about it.
He assured that if conclusive evidence were available, the president would address the public directly.
Recent Pentagon releases have included videos of UAPs, with the Trump administration advocating for transparency. According to White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly, Trump has instructed the Department of War to disclose government files related to extraterrestrial life and UAPs, reflecting his commitment to transparency. In past discussions, Rubio admitted to using the topic of UAPs as a diversion tactic with reporters. Despite this, he maintained the seriousness of delving into such issues. Rubio commented, It’s also a very legitimate topic that we should be covering,
acknowledging its dual role as both a diversion and a subject worthy of inquiry.
President Trump has also moved to permit former government employees with relevant information on UAPs to speak freely. This directive waives prior nondisclosure agreements, according to a senior administration official. The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) was established to facilitate these investigations, although this latest move is not a declassification directive.
Concerns have arisen about the silence of potential witnesses due to existing nondisclosure agreements. Rubio’s efforts on the Senate Intelligence Committee have been key to producing reports on UAPs. Joshua Golembeske, a UFO investigator and host of “Cosmic Disclosure,” highlighted Rubio’s past work and his current attempts to address stigma preventing UAP reports. Golembeske remarked on recent testimony indicating secrecy within certain government programs, noting that not being briefed does not equate to an absence of information.
