Jalen Brunson recently appeared on NBC’s ‘Today’ with his mother, Sandra Brunson. When asked about his thoughts on the game against the 76ers, he described the upcoming match as a ‘fireworks’ event.
“They’re gonna be electric,” Brunson said. “They’re gonna be definitely a team to keep your eye on. I mean, they reloaded this year, so it’s gonna be a tough test. We’ll be ready.”
Despite the buzz surrounding the 76ers, Brunson is focused on the Knicks’ preparations. “Rightfully so,” he acknowledged the 76ers’ reputation but remained resolute about his team’s prospects. “We’re gonna focus on what we need to do, and we’ll see what happens,” Brunson added.
Brunson is recovering from wrist surgery during the offseason and has been wearing a soft cast. He remains hopeful about playing on opening night, stating that he feels good and is planning his recovery steps. He aims to return by Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. ET when the Knicks take on the 76ers.
The matchup will serve as an early test for both teams and could perhaps foreshadow a future encounter in the Eastern Conference Finals. Brunson, the NBA Finals MVP, anticipates having the complete support of his team this season. The Knicks are favorites to win on opening night with a five-point edge at DraftKings Sportsbook.
