Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points, with 20 points coming in the first half, to lead the Indiana Fever to a 106-92 win over the New York Liberty. Caitlin Clark contributed 22 points and 10 assists in the victory on Tuesday night.
The Fever has secured seven victories out of their last nine games. The team’s latest success followed a pregame outburst by coach Stephanie White, who defended herself and criticized distractions that overshadow the WNBA. This incident seemed to energize the team, which shot 59% from the field and 79% from the 3-point range.
At halftime, Indiana led 64-46. Their shooting performance included 16 successful 3-pointers out of 25 attempts. Alongside Mitchell and Clark, Sophie Cunningham also made four 3-pointers, finishing with 12 points. Aliyah Boston added 19 points and seven rebounds to the effort.
For the Liberty, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu each scored 19 points, while Jonquel Jones ended the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Fever took charge during a 15-7 run late in the second quarter, building a 54-37 lead. Despite New York’s attempt to close the gap in the third quarter, cutting the score to 66-57, Indiana regained control. Mitchell’s three-point play and Cunningham’s 3-pointer in the final minute of the third quarter extended the lead to 87-67. Indiana maintained a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game.
