Chrissy Metz Embraces GLP-1 Medication for Health Benefits

Chrissy Metz, known for her role in “This Is Us,” recently discussed her decision to use GLP-1 medication. The 45-year-old actor initially hesitated but considered it after learning about the health benefits. Having seen her father’s health struggles related to obesity, Metz thought, “Maybe I can get ahead of it.” After getting approval from her doctors, she proceeded with the treatment.

Metz has partnered with healthcare company Ro, which provides GLP-1 medications through telehealth services. These drugs mimic a hormone that signals fullness after eating, helping reduce cravings.

“If nothing changes, nothing changes,” she said.

Metz shared that the GLP-1 medication has helped quiet her “food noise,” a significant change she describes as “unbelievable.” She’s finding creativity in new areas now that her mind isn’t fixated on food.

The medication isn’t a quick fix. Metz views it as part of a broader lifestyle change. She emphasized diligence, sharing that she’s prioritizing her well-being more actively now.

Playing Angélique in Broadway’s “& Juliet,” Metz has gained stamina for the demanding schedule of eight shows a week. She noted improved menstrual regulation, reduced inflammation, and better joint health. Costume adjustments reflect changes in her measurements, though she doesn’t focus on weight. Metz aims to choose what benefits her in the long term.

Metz has begun strength training, aligning with World Health Organization advice for those on GLP-1 drugs and preparing for perimenopause.

For those considering GLP-1, Metz stresses thorough research. She suggests talking with a doctor and understanding that not everyone will agree with the decision.

“Do what’s right for you and your own health,” she advised.
