The new stadium, loaded with technology and considered design elements, preserves the outdoor essence of NFL games. Without a roof, about 65% of seats are under an awning to shield fans from the weather. Infrared heaters installed beneath seating areas aim to maintain comfort during the harsh Buffalo winters. The stadium’s natural grass field is also heated, with a canopy featuring a snow-melt system.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 23, 2026, New York Governor Kathy Hochul acknowledged all contributors to the project. At first glance, the designers seemed to have planned a modern venue, focusing on retaining the outdoor charm while enhancing the infrastructure for a better fan experience.
However, several issues arose regarding visibility from some seating areas. Concerns emerged when fans attending the Return of the Red and Blue practice highlighted poor visibility via social media. Some seats near the 50-yard-line had obstructed views due to glass panes. Others in the upper deck had limited views of the field, particularly the end zone.
Posts also showed high-level seats providing a view through glass with staircase railings in sight. Some fans felt misled by assurances about unobstructed views from Bills representatives.
Despite modern stadium complexities causing some obstructed views, expectations for better sightlines were evident given the cost of seating and personal seat licenses. Many hope the Bills’ performance under quarterback Josh Allen and coach Joe Brady will overshadow seating issues if the team advances to a Super Bowl.
