Tyler Loop, picked in the sixth round by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2025 NFL Draft, faced the challenge of replacing renowned kicker Justin Tucker. In his first NFL season, Loop achieved a 95.7 percent success rate on extra points and 88.2 percent on field goals. He was consistently accurate from inside 39 yards, converting all 21 of such attempts. However, Loop struggled with long-range kicks, making only one of his four attempts from beyond 50 yards, including a successful 52-yard try.
On Wednesday, Ravens special teams coordinator Anthony Levine Sr. discussed Loop’s focus on improving long-distance attempts during training camp. Recently, Loop successfully completed a 57-yard field goal attempt, along with kicks of 53 and 49 yards, demonstrating progress.
“We have the confidence in Tyler Loop to go out and make any kick from anywhere on the field,” Levine stated on the Ravens’ website. “His performance in training camp has proven his capabilities. Yesterday, he succeeded with a 57-yarder, 53-yarder, and 49-yarder, and made several under 45 yards. We admire his confidence and consistency, and we expect him to continue this upward trend.”
Loop concluded the season on a disappointing note, missing a 44-yard field goal that would have secured a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, ultimately impacting the Ravens’ playoff chances. The Ravens lost 26-24, which resulted in them missing the playoffs, as they couldn’t clinch the AFC North.
Post-defeat, Loop expressed his determination to focus forward and learn from the experience.
“We talk about having a one-minute rule,” Loop explained. “Although this miss stings as it was the season’s final play, the next time I take the field, it’s about moving on.”
The Ravens continue to place trust in Loop’s potential for consistent long-distance success. His improvement during camp suggests a promising build-up to the preseason. Continued consistency will be crucial for his role with the team.
