The team is likely to allow him more freedom now that the deadline has passed, as he was previously limited to fewer than 90 pitches in his last four starts. Detmers has a strong record against the Orioles, restricting them to just seven hits in 40 at-bats.
Orioles Face Challenges
The Baltimore Orioles seem to be resetting their strategy. Although around a .500 team, they face challenges in the competitive American League East. Their chances for a wild card spot appear slim due to their pitching staff. Despite this, they possess a strong roster but traded Adley Rutschman to the Boston Red Sox. Surprising many by trading within their division, the focus now shifts to strengthening their pitching.
Trevor Rogers, considered their second-best starter, is pitching today. With a season record of 6-7, a 4.27 ERA, and a 1.28 WHIP, Rogers has shown glimpses of strong performance. In July, except for a tough game against the Tigers, he allowed 15 earned runs over 60 innings. Despite the Angels hitting 8-for-22 against him, Travis d’Arnaud has excelled with seven hits in 15 at-bats against Rogers.
