Those exposed to lower sugar levels before birth and during the first two years of life showed a reduced risk of dementia. Specifically, experiencing limited sugar intake through age two led to a 23 percent lower risk.
“Our findings suggest that limiting sugar during the earliest stages of life may have lasting benefits for brain health,” said study author Jiazhen Zheng from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
