Podcaster Joe Rogan recently expressed doubts about the U.S. military campaign against Iran on his show, The Joe Rogan Experience. Speaking with journalist Annie Jacobsen, Rogan argued that there is “no clear way” to end the conflict. He echoed concerns over the potential “fundamental warping” of the U.S. military.
Rogan highlighted issues such as depleted stockpiles and drone attacks on bases, stating, “And also, no clear way to resolve this—at all.” He emphasized the risk of making America an enemy, remarking, “…it makes America an enemy and it makes us less safe because America has done this thing, this unprovoked attack and so now, they have a reason to attack back.” Newsweek sought comments from the White House and State Department regarding the ongoing situation.
Rogan’s Criticism of Trump’s Iran Strategy
Rogan’s observations add to prior criticisms he has made about President Donald Trump’s approach to the conflict. Earlier, Rogan questioned the administration’s military strategy, commenting on its lack of clarity. He suggested that the conflict has exposed vulnerabilities in America’s military readiness.
“Normally I would say Rogan’s comments could have an impact…but at this point, the debacle in Iran is so clear that those who might be influenced by Rogan have seen the reality of the situation already,” said Robert Y. Shapiro, a professor of political science.
Shapiro reiterated that Rogan’s remarks were a signal for Trump and Republicans that the war did not meet planned expectations.
Public Opinion on Military Action
Public support for Trump’s Iran policy has waned. A recent Quinnipiac University poll found that 34 percent of voters favor U.S. military action against Iran, while 60 percent oppose it. This marks a peak in opposition and a dip in approval for the action.
Among independents, 26 percent support military action, with 69 percent opposed. Trump’s approval rating on Iran stood at 28 percent, with a disapproval rating of 66 percent, down from previous months. The poll surveyed 963 registered voters nationwide with a 4.1 percent margin of error. A similar YouGov/The Economist poll showed similar trends.
Rogan’s Influence and Perspective
Rogan’s influence as a prominent podcaster gives his opinions significant political weight. He has supported Trump on various issues but criticized military action against Iran. Rogan said, “it just doesn’t make any sense to me unless we’re acting on someone else’s interest, like particularly Israel’s interests.”
Rogan criticized Trump’s deviation from campaign promises, “He ran on no more wars and these stupid, senseless wars, and then we have one that we can’t even really clearly define why we did it.” His willingness to challenge the administration reflects broader conservative and independent voter concerns about the conflict’s alignment with Trump’s long-standing anti-war stance.

The situation in Iran remains tense despite diplomatic efforts. According to the Associated Press, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps reportedly attacked two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Kuwait reported intercepting drones, highlighting the potential for further regional escalation.
