Long-time NFL player Andrus Peat shared his retirement via social media on Friday. The 32-year-old spent 11 seasons in the league after being a first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Drafted 13th overall, he played for Stanford before joining the professional ranks.
On Instagram, Peat reflected on his career: ’11 years in the league, I gave it everything I had. I may be walking away from football, but not from the lessons it taught me. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and especially my brothers in the trenches. I’m grateful beyond words that I was able to live out this dream.’
Peat added, ‘On to the next chapter with my wife and sons. All glory to God!’
For nine years, Peat was a staple on the Saints’ offensive line, mainly as their left guard. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times from 2018 to 2020. During his tenure, the team secured four consecutive NFC South titles from 2017 to 2020.
After leaving the Saints, Peat joined the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2023 season for depth on their offensive line, playing in 15 games with one start. He then spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, appearing in six games and starting in three.
Peat’s wife, Ashley, expressed her pride in a heartfelt message, ‘We are SO proud of you baby!!!! Thank you for everything you sacrificed and worked so hard to provide for us all these years. Can’t wait to enjoy this next chapter with you.’
