Tom Homan Criticizes New York City’s Sanctuary Policies

White House border czar Tom Homan recently criticized New York City’s sanctuary policies and Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s refusal to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. Homan argues that such a stance endangers citizens by preventing the removal of criminal aliens. He cites thousands of arrests to underscore the potential risks involved.

Homan also reacted to new legislation from New York Governor Kathy Hochul and a controversy involving a pizzeria in Memphis.

During a segment on ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’, Homan warned of an impending ICE surge in New York City. This move comes as a result of the Trump administration’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws, despite opposition from Mamdani. Homan stated, ‘It’s coming,’ but chose not to disclose further details, remaining strategic about the administration’s plans.

While speaking on Fox Business Network, Homan noted the current operations of ICE in New York and across the state. ‘There’s going to be a surge, and there needs to be a surge,’ he said. However, he refused to reveal specifics to prevent interference from well-funded groups.

Homan’s comments followed Mamdani’s declaration of pride in the city’s sanctuary identity. Mamdani stated the city’s refusal to participate in federal immigration enforcement, even if laws were structured to deport individuals for unknown crimes.

“What we are unwilling to do is to participate in civil immigration enforcement with a federal government that has said openly it wants to deport a vast majority of people for crimes that we will never even know.” – Mayor Zohran Mamdani

Homan responded to Mamdani’s remarks by asserting that all illegal aliens who crossed the border illegally should be deported according to the rule of law. He suggested that if Mamdani disagrees, he should address Congress for legislative changes.

Homan emphasized that President Donald Trump’s campaign promises around border security and deportations contributed significantly to his election success. He argued that the administration’s actions reflect its commitment to fulfilling these promises.
