Justin Baldoni has spoken out two years after the legal drama involving Blake Lively began. On Wednesday evening, Baldoni and his wife, Emily, released a detailed Instagram video discussing the past two years, which they described as filled with “injustice” and “trauma.”
“We haven’t spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years,” Justin started. “It’s not because we didn’t have anything to say, but it felt like every time we considered making a video, it simply didn’t feel like the right time.”
The legal conflict originated from the production of the 2024 movie “It Ends With Us.” Tensions reportedly escalated during the film’s press tour when Baldoni promoted the movie separately from Lively and the rest of the cast.
In December 2024, Lively filed a complaint and subsequent federal lawsuit, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set and of damaging her reputation after she voiced her concerns. Baldoni denied these allegations and countered with lawsuits against Lively, Ryan Reynolds, The New York Times, and others for defamation and extortion.

Throughout the following year, a public legal battle ensued, involving extensive court filings, text messages, subpoenas, and released footage. Ultimately, Lively and Baldoni reached a confidential settlement in May 2026 without either party admitting wrongdoing or paying damages. The court is currently addressing Lively’s request for $8 million in attorney’s fees, which Baldoni contests.
In their Wednesday video, Justin acknowledged their gratitude for numerous people and events during this challenging time, adding, “Gratitude has saved us.” Emily expressed that, despite their gratitude, it doesn’t “negate the injustice and pain felt in the last few years.”
Emily continued, “We’ve wrestled with many issues, trying to comprehend how such things could happen.” She noted the experience’s profound impact, framed within a broader conversation on women’s rights.
The couple emphasized the trauma they endured and the difficulty in discussing the matter, with Justin stating, “There have been many painful things spoken into existence. We didn’t want to add to the noise, so we let the justice system run its course.” Emily asserted, “The truth and facts have spoken for themselves.”
Reflecting on their post-legal battle life, Justin declared, “We are healing now.” He noted, “Healing isn’t linear,” requiring daily re-evaluation of what matters most—their family, friends, faith, and community. He mentioned the experience strengthened their faith and devotion.

Justin conveyed gratitude to supporters who provided discernment and intuition, saying, “Thank you does not feel like enough.” He highlighted the importance of reliance on love and faith when facing adversity. Emily concluded, “There’s much more to say. The time will come, but for now, we’ll focus on healing and family life.”
The legal dispute between Baldoni and Lively remains significant in Hollywood due to its impact on the film, the celebrities involved, and broader discussions on workplace conduct and reputation management.
