Nate Smith, the country music artist, has undergone a significant transformation through his weight loss journey. Previously, he felt out of breath from performing simple tasks. Now, having lost over 70 pounds, he has regained control over his life.
Last month, during the Sports Illustrated and Tight End University’s Tight Ends & Friends Concert at The Pinnacle in Nashville, Smith shared his future goals with People magazine. He expressed a desire to reduce his weight to below 200 pounds from his previous weight of approximately 275 pounds. He aims to reach around 185 pounds once again.
The singer of “Whiskey on You” attributed his motivation to the desire to perform optimally for his fans. He highlighted the importance of maintaining energy onstage as a way of reciprocating the support of his fans. Smith also mentioned how being able to wear clothes he likes has positively impacted his well-being.
Fondly recalling his red carpet attire, Smith remarked, “This is a large. I’ve been double X for the last five or six years, so I’m feeling really good.”
During the Nashville event, Smith praised the endless benefits his weight loss has brought. He noted, “I don’t sweat anymore, which is amazing. I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes.” Additionally, he enjoys the ability to move more freely onstage.
After a health scare in 2024, Smith addressed issues such as overeating and excessive drinking. Within several months, by reducing his daily caloric intake, he shed nearly 50 pounds. Despite struggling with occasional binge eating, Smith shared, “If I decide I’m going to have mac and cheese, it’s okay. It’s about making it a treat versus a lifestyle.”
Smith acknowledged he hasn’t reached his goal yet but expressed contentment with his current progress. Feeling happier and more confident, he is committed to managing his eating habits.
