New Orleans Saints Eye 2026 Turnaround with Rising Star Kelvin Banks Jr.

The New Orleans Saints face a pivotal season in 2026. After several challenging years, changes made by the team could translate into success. One player standout to watch closely is Kelvin Banks Jr., a potential breakout star.

Highlighting under-the-radar talents, Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports expressed excitement about players who could emerge in the new season. He notes that the offseason and preseason present opportunities for individuals to rise from obscurity, at least for casual fans, to become standout players.

“The offseason and preseason do provide plenty of opportunities for individuals to make their jumps from relative unknowns — at least to casual fans — to standouts,” he says.

Pereles identifies Kelvin Banks Jr., the Saints’ left tackle, as one such player. Combining statistical achievements with sheer dedication, Banks Jr. has gained recognition.

“Kelvin Banks Jr. not only held down the left tackle spot for the entirety of the 2025 season as a rookie, but he did so in impressive fashion, too,” he states. “The No. 9 overall pick was the No. 27 tackle in football according to PFF’s grades, well ahead of highly regarded veterans Dion Dawkins and Ronnie Stanley.”

In 2025, Banks Jr.’s performance stood out as exceptional for a rookie. Ranked number 27 by PFF, he surpassed experienced players like Dion Dawkins and Ronnie Stanley. His progress and successful season show promise for 2026.

With quarterback Tyler Shough also having much to prove, Banks Jr. can be instrumental. His consistency may aid Shough in showcasing his strengths, adding an edge to the Saints’ game this year.
