Comedic Reactions to Trump’s Expensive Commemorative Coin

Late-night hosts had plenty to say about the latest offering from President Trump. He is selling gold commemorative coins for the UFC ‘Freedom 250’ event, happening on the White House South Lawn on his 80th birthday. Priced at up to $12,000, these coins feature his face and have raised eyebrows.

All That Glitters

On The Daily Show, Desi Lydic expressed disbelief at the coin’s cost. “$12,000? For a coin? Does it come with a used Honda Civic?” she joked. Lydic questioned the choice of a coin to mark a UFC event, suggesting a different memorabilia might be more fitting. “Seems like the kind of thing you commemorate with a tramp stamp,” she quipped.

Desi went on to mimic a UFC fan, highlighting the odd pairing of fighting and decorative coins. “The only thing I love more than fighting is cherishing sweet memories with decorative coinage,” she said.

This is Classic Donald Trump

Lydic described this move as typical Trump behavior. She pointed out his knack for extracting money, whether through large-scale projects or small schemes. “No amount of money is too small for him to try to grift someone out of,” said Lydic.

Lydic’s comments painted a picture of Trump’s ability to sell useless memorabilia to his supporters. “It takes a special kind of con man to sell your supporters money they cannot spend any place,” she remarked.

This perspective was also echoed by Jimmy Kimmel during his show.
