Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes Trump’s Foreign Policy Decisions

During a CNN appearance with Kaitlan Collins, former Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene criticized President Donald Trump and his administration. Greene argued that Trump’s team is undermining him by not challenging his previous statements about avoiding wars.

Greene highlighted Trump’s repeated campaign promise to steer clear of new wars and foreign military engagements. Her criticism arises as the Trump administration increasingly justifies military actions around the Strait of Hormuz, following a U.S. Apache helicopter being brought down. U.S. officials have blamed Iran for the incident, prompting Trump to authorize retaliatory self-defense strikes. Reports have suggested ambiguity about whether the helicopter was deliberately targeted or collided with an Iranian drone, leading to questions about the causes behind the military response.

Newsweek contacted the White House for comments but had received no response by Wednesday night.

Greene’s remarks are significant given her past allegiance to Trump, which she broke over the release of Jeffrey Epstein files. Trump has also criticized Greene, referring to her as “wacky.” Greene was queried about Trump’s past interview with ABC’s Kristen Welker regarding his change in stance since promising no new wars. Trump defended his position, stating, “I didn’t guarantee no war, why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” Greene countered that Trump’s continuous promises to end foreign wars are on record, suggesting the president’s previous assurances should preclude current military actions.

Greene further criticized Trump’s communications team for failing to utilize past videos where Trump committed to ending wars and promoting peace. She argued that their oversight led to perceptions undermining Trump’s credibility. The disparity between Trump’s prior anti-war commitments and recent military activities has created friction among his political supporters.

On Wednesday, additional self-defense strikes targeting Iran were conducted by U.S. forces, according to posts on X from CENTCOM. The posts described the strikes as a response to “unwarranted and continued aggression.” They countered claims by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps suggesting that the Strait of Hormuz was closed, confirming commercial vessels were still navigating the passage.

Further reporting from Fox News’ Trey Yingst revealed that Trump was contacted by Iranian officials while in the Situation Room. They requested the cessation of bombing efforts. Trump reportedly assured them the strikes would conclude soon.
