Mayor Mamdani’s N.B.A. Finals Attendance

Mayor Zohran Mamdani paid approximately $1,000 for a ticket to Game 3 of the N.B.A. finals, opting for standing-room-only access. This ticket was part of a pool reserved for V.I.P.s and well-connected individuals, a common practice at major events.

Mamdani attended the game with some former colleagues from the State Legislature. Although Game 3 marked a loss for the Knicks, the mayor clearly stated his intention to pay for his own ticket, ensuring he adhered to city regulations prohibiting gifts to elected officials.

Mayor Mamdani chose to stand, notably avoiding the celebrity row and a section occupied by President Trump within Madison Square Garden. His choice to purchase his ticket from reserved house seats instead of accepting a free ticket highlights a commitment to transparency and adherence to ethical standards.
