Trump and Jaxson Dart Discuss Sports and Politics

President Donald Trump recently highlighted his opinion on biological males in women’s sports by mentioning his meeting with Jaxson Dart, quarterback for the New York Giants. Speaking at the White House, Trump recounted a conversation with Dart where he jokingly asked how Dart would fare in women’s sports. Dart reportedly replied, ‘Pretty good, sir,’ not realizing the jest.

Dart had introduced Trump at an event in New York, sparking backlash from Giants fans and team members, including defensive lineman Abdul Carter. Despite the criticism, Dart explained he respected the presidential office independent of political affiliations. He viewed the introduction as a ‘unique opportunity.’

Trump expanded on his sports commentary, suggesting that Dart could have been the ‘greatest athlete’ in women’s sports history, reiterating his stance against biological males in women’s events.

‘Keeping males out of women’s sports is a 90-10 issue,’ Trump stated.

Amidst the backlash, Carter expressed disbelief on social media, initially suspecting the video of Dart and Trump was not real. He later cleared the air with Dart, citing shared experiences and the importance of mutual support during challenging seasons.

During the event, hosted at Rockland Community College in Suffern, N.Y., Trump addressed his economic achievements and supported Rep. Mike Lawler, who faces reelection soon.

Carter reminded reporters after resolving the misunderstanding with Dart, ‘Stand on what you believe in. But it can’t be a problem when I stand on what I believe in.’ This underscores the delicate balance of personal beliefs and public engagement in team environments.

The Supreme Court is set to make decisions on cases concerning transgender athletes in girls’ and women’s sports later this month, adding contextual relevance to Trump’s statements.
