John “Jed” York, owner and CEO of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested and arraigned in East Palestine, Ohio. The initial charges included “engaging in prostitution” and “possessing criminal tools,” which were later reduced to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, as per court records.
York was booked on a Sunday morning and released on a $5,000 bond that afternoon, confirmed by the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office. His arrest occurred at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community, a trailer park in East Palestine. The local police directed inquiries to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, which hasn’t commented yet.
York appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court the following Monday, where he pleaded no contest to the misdemeanors as per a plea agreement filed by the prosecutor. He received a two-day jail sentence, with credit for one day already served. Additionally, York was fined $1,150.
The NFL acknowledged awareness of the issue, stating, “We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy.” York faces potential league discipline under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.
The San Francisco 49ers released a brief statement indicating they won’t provide further comment, emphasizing that the legal matter has been resolved.
Jed York has held ownership of the 49ers since 2024, having served earlier as the team’s CEO. He hails from Youngstown, Ohio.
