The Tecate Emblema Festival in Mexico City kicked off its first night with notable performances from the Jonas Brothers, Louis Tomlinson, and Cazzu. The event also featured acts such as RuPaul, LP, and Lost Frequencies.
Jonas Brothers Return
Fans of the Jonas Brothers showed their enthusiasm from early on, wearing band t-shirts and cheering loudly when Joe, Nick, and Kevin took the stage. They performed songs like “Love Me to Heaven,” “Only Human,” “S.O.S.,” “Sucker,” and “What a Man Gotta Do.” They also engaged with the crowd by fulfilling fan requests in an acoustic section of the performance.
This marks the Jonas Brothers’ return to Mexico City after a four-year hiatus. They had to cancel a previous appearance in 2024 due to Nick Jonas’s health issues, though they performed at Irapuato’s Feria de las Fresas in 2025.
Cazzu’s Diverse Set
Argentine artist Cazzu expressed excitement about sharing the stage with the Jonas Brothers, musicians she admired during her teenage years. Her performance was diverse, featuring Argentine folk dance from the Atahualpa Yupanqui Ballet. She performed tracks from her latest album “Latinaje,” early trap releases, a cumbia cover of Selena Quintanilla’s “Si una vez,” and Mexican corridos like “Perdón si no te llamé” and “Dolce.”
Cazzu shared her joy at returning to perform in Mexico, highlighting the warmth and pleasure of being at such a festival after a long time away.
Louis Tomlinson’s Gratitude
Louis Tomlinson, formerly of One Direction, was a highly anticipated performer. Like the Jonas Brothers, he last performed in Mexico City four years ago, previously appearing in Guadalajara in 2024. His set included songs like “Lazy,” “Sunflowers,” and “Imposter.” Tomlinson expressed deep gratitude to his fans, feeling humbled by the passion and love received far from home.
Technical Challenges
Despite facing some technical issues, the festival carried on smoothly. Heavy rain and lightning caused a slight delay for Cazzu’s performance, and adjustments were needed for her audio equipment. Louis Tomlinson also encountered minor technical hiccups, while LP’s show started 30 minutes late due to instrument setup problems. Nonetheless, LP captivated the audience with songs like “When We’re High,” “Girls Go Wild,” and “The One That You Love.”
RuPaul and Other Acts
RuPaul took to the stage not in drag but wearing a striking lime green suit. His DJ set included 90s dance music and disco hits like “Rhythm Is a Dancer” and “Show Me Love.” Hercules and Love Affair, joined by Icelandic singer Elín Ey, performed despite heavy rain, keeping the audience dancing.
The evening concluded with a dynamic set from Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies, featuring pop, house, and techno tracks such as “Are You With Me,” “Dance In The Sunlight,” and “Where Are You Now.”
The festival is set to continue on Sunday with performances from artists like Sech, Gloria Trevi, Kenia Os, NSQK, and Paris Hilton in a DJ set.
