California Democrat Revives New Deal Principles

The California Democrat is drawing on the historical significance of Roosevelt’s New Deal, emphasizing its continued relevance in modern politics. Representative Ro Khanna is not only renewing the Democratic Party’s connection to the Economic Bill of Rights but is also actively participating in rallies to highlight this vision.

On October 3, Rep. Khanna addressed reporters during a wealth tax rally held at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. This event was notable for its focus on wealth disparity and economic reform.

Rep. Khanna declared, “We are New Deal Democrats, not corporate Democrats. We are New Deal Democrats, not neoliberal Democrats. We are New Deal Democrats, not Chuck Schumer Democrats.”

Rep. Khanna was joined by Sen. Bernie Sanders at the Ballots Over Billionaires rally in Los Angeles on October 5. The rally showcased unified efforts to challenge economic inequality. The contrast between New Deal Democrats and corporate or neoliberal Democrats became a focal point.

Founded in 1865 by abolitionists, The Nation has consistently reported on political and cultural developments. As a progressive voice, it continues to emphasize critical, independent perspectives. This historical continuity underlines the importance of maintaining democratic values through political engagement.
