The Los Angeles Dodgers faced a tough loss on Wednesday in Game 3 of the NLCS against the Milwaukee Brewers. They fell 6-2 at Dodger Stadium, marking their third consecutive defeat in the series.
All-Star third baseman Max Muncy made headlines off the field with his blunt assessment of the team’s performance. He stated, “It’s a pretty simple answer. We’re playing like s—, they’re playing great.” Muncy’s direct words resonated as the Dodgers continue to search for answers.
Muncy has struggled at the plate this postseason, going 4-for-21. Despite this, he managed to hit three home runs in the NLDS, showcasing his potential for power.
In contrast, the Dodgers have yet to hit a home run in the NLCS. Their inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities is evident as they stand 3-for-32 with runners in scoring position during the postseason.
The Dodgers did find a moment of success in the sixth inning when catcher Will Smith drove in two runs with a ball off the wall in left-center field. However, Brewers reliever DL Hall quickly shut down their momentum by striking out the next two Dodgers batters.
Jake Bauers of the Brewers turned the tables in the seventh with a two-run homer, followed by another solo shot from center fielder Garrett Mitchell, putting the Brewers up 4-2.
The Dodgers failed to respond, resulting in nine consecutive batters being retired to end the game. Their quest for a third straight World Series title appears increasingly challenging, as they now trail 3-0 in the series.
The Dodgers are set to play the Brewers again on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, hoping to avoid a series sweep.
