NFL to Suspend Rams Player Alaric Jackson for Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Alaric Jackson Faces Suspension After On-Field Incident

The NFL is preparing to suspend Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson for two games. This decision follows a heated exchange where Jackson punched Buffalo Bills edge rusher Bradley Chubb. The incident happened during Monday night’s game, described as a potential Super Bowl preview.

“After the game, as players were shaking hands and exchanging jerseys, Jackson struck Buffalo linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face after a brief confrontation,” the official suspension statement read.

The altercation escalated after the game concluded. Footage clearly shows Jackson approaching Chubb and losing his temper, resulting in a punch. This action was deemed unsportsmanlike, and Jackson faces suspension under Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, related to violations against sportsmanship principles.

Chubb’s Reaction to the Incident

Bradley Chubb maintained his composure during the confrontation. He allowed his teammates to restrain him and avoided escalation. Chubb later remarked on the event, highlighting that emotions can often lead to regrettable actions. “They always catch the second guy. So, I let him swing. And then my teammates held me back, and I just chilled,” stated Chubb.

Jackson’s Troubled Past

The punch isn’t Jackson’s first controversy. Earlier in June 2026, he faced arrest due to felony domestic violence charges in Southern California. Though prosecutors opted for a pre-filing diversion hearing, the NFL continues to review the situation. Furthermore, in 2024, Jackson received a two-game suspension under the Personal Conduct Policy. This was due to recording intimate encounters without consent, resulting in a civil lawsuit.

Jackson’s pattern of problematic behavior is overshadowing his on-field skills. Rams coach Sean McVay emphasizes accountability. However, Jackson’s recurrent issues pose challenges to team stability. The Rams, currently at 2-3 in the NFC, require reliable performance to secure quarterback Matthew Stafford’s protection.
