Selma Blair Faces Assault Charges After In-Flight Incident

Selma Blair, known for roles in “Cruel Intentions” and “Hellboy,” faced legal issues following alleged assaults on an aircraft and at a hospital. The incidents began after a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York.

Reports state Blair was arrested for behavior described by Port Authority police as “physically abusive.” Blair allegedly kicked medical staff and law enforcement during various phases of transportation and evaluation.

Alleged Assaults After Flight

A Queens Criminal Court affidavit details Blair’s actions at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. The affidavit claims she kicked registered nurse Ashley DeLeo while being transported for medical treatment, causing substantial pain.

During her arraignment, Blair agreed with statements in court. The actress was charged with two counts of second-degree assault due to actions aboard Delta Flight 938.

Officials report Blair attacked two flight attendants, resulting in injuries requiring medical attention. Specifics mentioned injuries sustained by Port Authority Police Officer Maria Suarez.

Further Allegations

While being transported from JFK airport, Blair reportedly kicked Officer Suarez. The affidavit reports she freed herself from stretcher straps and kicked the officer in the face, neck, and chest, causing swelling and pain.

Delta Airlines issued a statement expressing zero tolerance for behavior disrupting passenger and crew safety.

Blair’s representative claims she experienced a medical emergency, leading to the incidents, and she is in stable condition following medical evaluation.

Attorney’s Defense

Blair’s attorney stated the actions were unintentional, attributing them to missed medication doses controlling severe neurological symptoms. The attorney noted her extensive work hours and altitude effects contributed to confusion.

Blair’s diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, revealed publicly in 2018, was part of the argument for her conduct following the flight.

Soon released on bond, Blair will return to court in January. Judge Indira Kahn expressed concern about potential risks she may pose.
