Connor Bedard Set to Return to the Chicago Blackhawks After Shoulder Surgery

The Chicago Blackhawks have faced challenges this season without their star center, Connor Bedard. Due to shoulder surgery over the summer, Bedard has been absent for the entirety of the 2026-27 season so far.

However, optimism is in the air as Bedard prepares for a comeback. ESPN’s Emily Kaplan reports that Bedard is expected to rejoin the Blackhawks in their upcoming Tuesday game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Fans are eager for Bedard’s return, especially given his status as the team’s top player. His absence has been felt deeply, as reflected in the Blackhawks’ 1-5-0 record to start the season.

Bedard aims to make a significant impact once he reclaims his spot on the ice. His contribution could be pivotal in reversing Chicago’s current struggles.

Last season, in 69 games, Bedard achieved an impressive 30 goals, 45 assists, and a total of 75 points. His performance earned him a five-year, $75 million contract extension with the Blackhawks in July.

Throughout his three-season career in the NHL, Bedard has played 219 games, amassing 75 goals and 203 points. This season marks his debut as captain of the Blackhawks.
