Prince William is not anticipated to reunite with his brother, Prince Harry, for a potential documentary about their late mother, Princess Diana. Piers Morgan has stated that the ongoing rift between the brothers makes a reunion improbable. ‘They don’t speak and haven’t for years,’ Morgan told Fox News Digital.
Morgan emphasized that William is upset with Harry for criticizing the royal family through books, Netflix documentaries, and podcasts. He mentioned Harry’s attacks on various family members, including Catherine and King Charles, and noted William’s desire to distance himself from Harry.
Royal experts have remarked that William and Harry have been estranged since 2022, after Queen Elizabeth II’s death. William is reportedly not interested in making a new documentary about Diana’s 30th anniversary, partly to avoid conflicts with Harry. William has turned down offers to appear in documentaries about Diana, viewing previous tributes as his public ‘catharsis.’
Meanwhile, Harry is exploring projects to honor Diana ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death on August 31, 2027. Although no documentary has been finalized, Harry is reaching out to family and friends connected to Diana for insights.
Royal broadcaster Ian Pelham Turner noted Harry and Meghan’s relative silence, contrasting with William and Catherine’s active engagement in public duties across Britain. Turner described King Charles III’s concern over the brothers’ distant relationship, describing the situation as challenging for the king.
Friends of William have indicated his intent to mark Diana’s anniversary privately. William and Harry had collaborated in the past on Diana-related projects, but William expressed a desire not to speak publicly about her again following the 20th anniversary tribute in 2017.
Harry has discussed the profound impact of Diana’s death on him and, in his memoir, ‘Spare,’ described his emotional struggle during her funeral. Despite family estrangement, Harry expressed to the BBC in 2025 a wish for reconciliation, recognizing the preciousness of life.
