Dallas Cowboys legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy White has publicly endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the important U.S. Senate race. White praised Paxton’s determination in action. “Ken Paxton will get in there and get things done. He’s not afraid,” White remarked in an exclusive interview with OutKick. White appreciates Paxton’s direct approach, noting Paxton speaks truthfully and acts in the people’s best interest, avoiding any popularity pursuits.
Their shared advocacy in areas like children’s welfare and the opioid epidemic strengthened White’s endorsement. White highlighted Paxton’s role in the National Child Identification Program, which offers parents tools to secure their children’s identifying information like fingerprints and DNA. Paxton worked to secure federal funding for this initiative, while White serves as a Hall of Fame ambassador. “He is a big supporter of the Child ID program, which is something I’m a big supporter of — helping kids,” White stated.
Trigged by the loss of his son-in-law to an opioid overdose, White became an advocate for drug-awareness. He participated alongside Paxton and Texas families who have faced similar tragedies in a public service announcement from the attorney general’s office. White stressed, “This opioid stuff — I lost a son-in-law to opioids, accidental. He’s been right on top of that ever since that happened. Everything he does is kind of the way I think it should be done.”
White differentiated between Paxton and James Talarico, another candidate in the race, expressing skepticism towards Talarico. “I know Ken Paxton,” White said. “I know he’s going to do what he says he’s going to do. I know he’s going to go to work every day, and he’s going to help the people of Texas.” In contrast, White found Talarico’s views differing fundamentally from his own, referring to issues like transgender participation in girls’ sports and access to bathrooms for transgender individuals. “If this guy gets elected in Texas, I’m going to pull my hair out,” he said, urging voters to act.
As a candidate, Talarico has opposed blanket bans on transgender athletes, advocating instead for decisions to be made on a case-by-case basis. White interpreted Talarico’s remarks as indicative of inconsistency. “I think that’s a sign that we can’t trust him,” White asserted. “He’s going to go with the way the wind flows.” In contrast, White emphasized the reliability he believes Paxton offers, supporting Paxton’s steadfastness.
The Senate race has proven to be tightly contested underlining public interest. Recent polling by Fox News showed a slight lead for Talarico, 51%-49%, within the margin of error. White remains a staunch Trump supporter. He expressed strong approval for Trump’s policies, especially concerning economic and international matters, asserting, “He’ll get gas prices back down where they were. It’s just something that’s part of the process of getting America back where it needs to be and making it safe.” White also praised Trump’s stance on geopolitical issues, emphasizing his belief in Trump’s approach as beneficial for the U.S.
