Jed York, owner of the San Francisco 49ers, faced legal troubles after his arrest on Monday at a trailer park for allegedly attempting to solicit prostitution. Authorities charged York with “engaging in prostitution” and “possessing criminal tools,” as indicated by court documents. York allegedly offered $140 to solicit prostitution.
The initial charge was reduced to “disorderly conduct,” according to court records. Jed York, originally from Youngstown, Ohio, received a one-day jail sentence in Columbiana County and paid a $1,285 criminal fine.
“I want to work with my team to make sure everything we do is about promoting the right types of social justice reform and getting to a better America,” York stated, reflecting his commitment to societal improvement.
Despite these events, questions remain if the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) intends to return York’s $2,500 donation made in June. The DCCC has not yet commented on the matter.
Mike Marinella, spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, criticized the DCCC’s financial desperation in their willingness to retain York’s donation amid his scandal.
York has a consistent record of contributions to notable Democratic figures since 2012. His past donations include support for Kamala Harris’ Senate run in 2015, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016, and Rep. Ro Khanna’s reelection efforts.
York expressed his opposition to North Carolina’s House Bill 2 in 2016, which reversed LGBT protections, reflecting positions opposed to discrimination.
“The San Francisco 49ers are deeply concerned about North Carolina’s recently enacted House Bill 2, which overturned protections for LGBT people and sanctioned discrimination across the state. HB 2 does not reflect the values of our organization, of our country or the majority of North Carolinians,” he explained.
He donated $75,000 towards efforts to repeal the legislation.
While acknowledging media portrayals that depict him as far-left, York contests these categorizations, citing his political activities and upbringing.
“I’m not the most left-wing person in the world. I realize people are trying to sort of paint me as that. That’s not my background politically and how I grew up. But I think a lot of these things are common sense issues,” York expressed.
Additionally, York’s significant contributions include a $5,000 donation to America 2.0 PAC, linked to former Rep. Tim Ryan, along with subsequent donations totaling $19,400.
Neither York nor Khanna responded to inquiries regarding the DCCC donation or further political contribution queries by Fox News Digital.
