Last year, they started the second half eight games above .500, whereas this year, they rebounded from even to the current ten games above.
Michael King Performance
Michael King will be pitching for the Padres today, aiming to secure another victory and widen their Wild Card lead. He holds an 8-9 record with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Ranked 41st in the Majors with 128 strikeouts, King excels in home games and evening matches, maintaining a 2.81 ERA over 93 innings in night games. King has restricted Pirates hitters to a .250 average over 40 at-bats.
Player Prop Insight
A potential player prop for today is Brandon Lowe, who is 2-for-13 against King with five strikeouts. While it’s uncertain if he will hit today, it remains an option. However, backing King and the Padres seems promising. Skenes isn’t performing at his past levels, and King’s success in home and night games, along with a more reliable Padres bullpen, builds confidence. The Padres appear to be the better choice for this game.
