East Palestine, Ohio — John “Jed” York, CEO and principal owner of the San Francisco 49ers, was arrested in Ohio recently. On Monday, York pleaded no contest to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools charges.
York faced arrest on Sunday in East Palestine, near the Pennsylvania border. Initially charged with engaging in prostitution, prosecutors later revised the charge to disorderly conduct. York, an alumnus of Cardinal Mooney High School, posted a $5,000 bond following his arrest.
The case details are scarce. However, an East Palestine Police report obtained by Nexstar’s WKBN indicates collaboration with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in apprehending York. Upon conviction, York received a sentence of two days in Columbiana County Jail, served concurrently. He received credit for one day already served. Court documents further revealed York was obligated to pay fines totaling $1,150.
As part of the legal agreement, authorities confiscated $160 from York. This amount was forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. Furthermore, York has filed a request to expunge this incident from his records.
York, an Ohio native, ascended to the role of team president for the 49ers in 2008. As of Monday morning, the team had not issued any public statements regarding York’s arrest. The NFL acknowledged awareness of the situation, indicating a review under its personal conduct policy. Nexstar’s WKBN has reached out to both the team and York’s attorney for further comments.
