Adam Copeland and Christian Cage: A New Era in AEW Tag Team Wrestling

For the first time in 25 years, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage have claimed the tag team championship title. They achieved this by defeating FTR in an I Quit match at the Double or Nothing event. Since that victory, Copeland and Cage have dominated the tag team division, defeating teams like The Death Riders and The Dogs.

Copeland’s journey to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) was not about reliving past glories. He sought new challenges and experiences. He expressed to Fox News Digital that joining AEW allowed him to pursue his remaining ambitions, and collaborating with Cage presented an opportunity to reinvent their tag team approach.

This isn’t about nostalgia. We’ve gained so much experience, and it’s important not to simply replicate what we did in the past. The goal was to create a fresh dynamic with our team.

The duo aimed to innovate their wrestling style. For example, Copeland proposed a new finishing move: the pop-up spear. This move debuted at the O2 in London during their first match together in 15 years.

Looking forward, Copeland and Cage are set to compete against the Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All In. Copeland had previously mentioned the Young Bucks as one of the teams he eagerly anticipated facing, alongside historic venues such as Arena México.

Copeland reflected on the evolution of their partnership. He recounted their storyline, which included turning points like their match with Mox and Christian’s loss of the Casino Royale opportunity. He remarked on the dynamic with Cage, emphasizing the enjoyment they derive from their current roles.

As All In approaches on August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London, excitement builds for what promises to be a remarkable contest. The anticipation is shared by fans and participants alike, signaling a significant milestone in the current wrestling landscape.
