Kelly Clarkson recently shared that her children are not allowed to watch a specific part of her career. During her last Las Vegas concert, the 44-year-old singer mentioned she has restricted her daughter River Rose, 12, and son Remington, 10, from viewing her 2003 musical comedy, ‘From Justin to Kelly‘.
According to a video obtained by Us Weekly, Clarkson humorously described the film as ‘Oscar-worthy’ and clarified her involvement with two words: ‘Contractually obligated.’
“Well, it’s an Oscar-worthy number, and it’s called ‘From Justin to Kelly‘,” Clarkson joked.
She co-starred in the film alongside Justin Guarini, who was the runner-up on the first season of ‘American Idol’. The storyline focused on two young individuals who meet and develop feelings for each other during spring break.
Reflecting on her participation, Clarkson revealed she was unaware that winning ‘American Idol’ required her to star in a movie. “Read the fine print,” she told her audience. “I didn’t know that if you won, you had to do a movie.”
Despite the fan showing support for the film during the concert, Clarkson candidly remarked about her opinion, “It’s s—.”
Even though her children won’t view her performance any time soon, Clarkson acknowledged not everything about the experience was negative. “The music part, that was fun,” she shared, emphasizing a positive perspective.
The musical comedy ‘From Justin to Kelly‘ premiered a year after her ‘American Idol’ triumph in 2003.
